Learn About Us
Wigs for Life was established in honor of Laura M. Pinno, who died of esophageal cancer in February of 2008. She was 56 years young. Her life was filled with beauty, kindness, and caring. During her treatment, it was important to her that cancer did not diminish the outward beauty and love that she felt within.
Leah LeCates' thirty-year friendship with Laura prompted Leah to establish the Wigs of Life Legacy in Laura's name, so that women cancer patients could maintain a sense of outward normalcy. Laura treasured her family and friends, and supported them throughout her life.
Of particular importance to Laura was the concept of women supporting women. Beginning with her college years, Laura was among the first class of women admitted to the University of Virginia, and continued her support of women throughout her career and personal life. Her business contacts were extensive and were developed over the course of 31 years in the footwear industry. Her career allowed her to continue to establish treasured friendships in the United States, Asia, South America, and Europe.
Local businesswoman Leah LeCates will provide a yearly wig donation for a Worcester County cancer patient in need to honor Laura's Legacy of supporting women. Additional gifts to Women supporting Women for Laura's Legacy may be made by contacting Leah LeCates of Home Mortgage Services at (410) 208- 9990, or Cathy Hale at The Wig Shoppe at Bongos Salon Spa at (410) 213-7607.Sponsors
